Woohoo! I’ve found a local charity to raise money for. It’s called Little Miracles and they are a support group and charity for children that have autism, additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions. They’re based up in Ely and they reach out to Cambridge, Newmarket and surrounding villages too, so they are very much a local charity.
I came across their website and they seemed to be doing some really cool things to help people. I really liked that their website is focussed more on showing what they provide than being geared towards asking for donations. For example they write on their blog about taking kids to places like the Harry Potter Studio Tour, Tudor Day at Kentwell Hall, and Woburn Safari. It also seems like a lot of people who use the service have been involved with fundraising to help keep improving the facilities they provide and the help the charity grow. I think the fact that the people who use the charity are so positive about Little Miracles and so keen to give back to the charity is a really encouraging sign.
I had a really good feeling about the charity, so I fired off an e-mail to them asking a little bit more about what they did, how they could spend any money raised and that sort of thing. I got a really nice e-mail back, sent at 1:40 in the morning! The people who run the charity all sound so positive and optimistic, I couldn’t possibly back out, not that I wanted to. I’m really pleased with my choice of local charity. It seems to be a great community of people doing really cool things that make a difference to people’s everyday lives. I’m very happy about this, so I really hope I can raise a lot of money for them.
Which reminds me, you can donate to any of my chosen charities by visiting my JustGiving page.
